Data Deletion

Your rights to request deletion of your temple's data and devotee records from Omkaarya.

Last updated: 24 June 2026

1. Overview

Omkaarya is committed to respecting your data rights. As a temple administrator, you have the right to request deletion of your temple's data and the personal information of devotees stored within your portal.

This page explains what data can be deleted, how long we retain data after cancellation, and how to submit a deletion request.

2. What Can Be Deleted

The following categories of data can be deleted upon request:

  • Temple account data — your organisation profile, admin accounts, and portal configuration
  • Devotee records — names, contact information, natchathiram, booking history, family profiles
  • Transaction records — seva billing history, hundi entries, donation records, prasadam orders
  • Inventory data — ornament register entries, prasadam stock records
  • Staff and user accounts — all staff login accounts associated with your temple portal
  • Communication logs — WhatsApp notification history, receipt records

Please note: Deletion of financial transaction records may affect your temple's ability to reconcile historical accounts. We strongly recommend exporting all data before submitting a deletion request.

3. Export Before Deletion

Before requesting data deletion, we strongly recommend exporting your temple's complete data. Within your Omkaarya portal:

  • Go to Settings → Data & Export
  • Select the data categories you wish to export
  • Download as CSV or PDF report formats

If you need assistance with data export before deletion, contact support@omkaarya.com and our team will guide you through the process.

4. Retention Periods

When you cancel your Omkaarya subscription:

  • Your portal data is retained for 60 days after the subscription end date
  • During this 60-day period, you may reactivate your account or export your data
  • After 60 days, all temple data and associated records are permanently deleted from our systems

If you require immediate deletion — before the 60-day grace period — you may submit a deletion request as described below. Immediate deletion requests are processed within 14 business days.

Certain anonymised, aggregated platform usage data (with no personal identifiers) may be retained for service improvement purposes.

5. How to Request Deletion

To request deletion of your temple's data:

  • Email support@omkaarya.com with the subject line: Data Deletion Request — [Your Temple Name]
  • Include your registered temple name and the email address associated with your account
  • Specify whether you want full account deletion or deletion of specific data categories

We will acknowledge your request within 3 business days and confirm completion within 14 business days. A confirmation email will be sent once deletion is complete.

For devotee-specific deletion requests (where an individual devotee requests removal of their personal data), the temple administrator should submit the request on the devotee's behalf.

6. Contact

Submit a deletion request

Tell us who you are and which temple account should be closed. If the request is approved, portal access ends immediately and invoices and history are kept.
